Teachers Reaching Out to Each Other

Teachers Connecting Online

One of the most amazing things to come out of this sudden change in education (of course I’m talking about online and hybrid learning) is the way teachers have stepped up to assist each other. Teachers across the country are sharing their tips and tricks, their knowledge and expertise, comforting each other, giving advice, and sharing education memes to put a smile on each other’s faces.

Did you know there are many teacher Facebook groups educators can join to connect with each other? I’ve found a few groups I regularly follow and have learned a great deal about best practices, where to find resources, and thankfully, tech advice and support. You can ask a question online, and immediately get answers from educators all over the country. There are general teacher groups, groups for Google Classroom help, Technology Groups, and groups to match your particular subject.

Facebook Groups: Here are a few groups I’ve found:

“K-12 Teachers Using Google Classroom” “Google Classroom Support – Teachers Helping Teachers” “Teacher Tech – Alice Keeler” “Bitmoji Craze for Educators” “Middle School Math Teachers” “Pre-Algebra Math Teachers” and many more.

Become a Tech Expert

One of my favorite groups is “Shake up Learning” led by Kasey Bell. Kasey is one of the leading experts on everything Google. She offers classes in Google Classroom, Google Slides, and offers certification in Google tech skills. I’m currently taking my 4th course from Kasey Bell. Her easy way of speaking (in her cute southern accent) and clear explanations will turn anyone into a Google expert. If you’re interested in learning how to use all of the features of Google, I highly recommend “Shake up Learning”.

So if you’re feeling isolated teaching at home, and miss connecting with colleagues, find an online group of like-minded teachers. You will learn, make friends, and feel supported. You’ll feel an amazing connection to others going through the same challenges you are. Good luck finding a group! Please let me know if you have an online teacher group you love!
