This is one of my favorite digital lessons on adding and subtracting decimals. Because it’s so important for students to line up their decimals correctly, this lesson gives students practice in placing their digits in the correct location. My students love number chips! It’s fun to move the colorful number circles around their screen! It just takes a little practice to learn how to click on the edge of each circle, hold, and then move them on the slide.
In this lesson, the students are also solving a riddle. After solving each addition or subtraction problem, the students need to match their answer with the letter in the lower right-hand corner of the slide. Each answer is matched with a letter. On the final slide students type in the letter that matches each answer, in order to solve the riddle. “Something that everyone is thinking about, but no one wants to talk about. “The _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ in the room.”
